Computer Wake Up
Your computer is asleep. You’re not. One of you has to do something about this.
Wake-on-LAN from your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac menu bar, Siri, Shortcuts, widgets, and Control Center. Tap once. A small incantation travels over your local network. Your computer, somewhere across the house or across the building, wakes up.
The protocol is actually called a “magic packet.” That’s the real name — it’s your MAC address repeated sixteen times, broadcast over UDP. It’s a little unhinged that this is how computers work. And yet here we are.
You can:
- wake saved computers from iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Siri, and Shortcuts
- add computers to Control Center and your Home Screen widgets
- scan your network from the Mac companion to find and save devices
- customize names, icons, and colors for each machine
- sync everything quietly through iCloud
Less like home automation. More like a very targeted grudge against getting out of your chair.
